Meet the Health & Safety Team

Colin Davison
Chairman

As our Chairman Colin has a wealth of business experience. He was formally CEO of Abbey Protection Plc and was instrumental in securing its Stock Market Flotation and subsequent sale to an American Insurer in 2014. Since retiring from Abbey, Colin has invested in a number of start-up businesses and is a Princes Trust Mentor. He also supports Coventry City... but we try not to hold that against him!

Simon Howes
Managing Director

In 2007 Simon co-founded Abbey HR Services which became AHR Consultants following a successful Management Buyout with our Chairman, Colin Davison in May 2017. Employer Advice Line is a part of AHR Consultants, who are HR, employment law, and safety specialists. Originally from Bristol, Simon now lives in a small village near Rugby, Warwickshire. He runs regularly and has completed the Great North Run 19 consecutive times. Simon is also a Princes Trust Mentor.

Laurence Begley
Director of H&S Services

An accountant by qualification, Laurence has spent the last 15 years in business and product development within the health and safety arena. Laurence is passionate about delivering long term, fit for purpose/bespoke solutions to clients and prides himself on still working with clients he originally signed up when he first started! In his spare time Laurence enjoys the gym for de-stressing and attending sports (rugby, football and cricket) for relaxation.

Will White
Head of Operations - Health and Safety

Will has been a H&S professional for over a decade working in various dedicated H&S roles within local government, healthcare, utilities and consultancy. As a consultant he has supported shops, offices, hospitals, warehouses, factories, schools, retirement, supported living and care homes. He has carried out H&S audits, fire risk assessments, general risk assessments, safety inspections, training and provided advice where needed. Will's operational background helps him to ensure that his guidance is keenly balanced ensuring that sensible recommendations are given. Outside of work, Will loves to spend time with his wife and children with woodland walks, beach trips or cuddling up on the sofa with a blanket and a good movie!

Chris Davies
H&S Consultant

Chris is an enthusiastic and dedicated H&S professional with over 20 years' experience as a consultant. Working with various sectors such as office, retail, automotive, agriculture, warehousing and for the last 10 years specialising in the care sector. Advising and carrying out fire risk assessments specifically for clients where the vulnerable, elderly or people with dementia and learning difficulties may be involved. Chris will offer a pragmatic and common sense solution. In his spare time he enjoys cycling and swimming... but only in good weather!

Brian Smith
H&S Consultant

Brian has over 40 years' experience of implementation and management of quality and H&S systems, and has achieved PCQI status with the institute of Quality Assurance. He is a member of the FPA and is qualified to carry out fire risk assessments, specialising in care homes, car dealerships, schools, H.M.O housing and SME commercial premises. Living in the rural area of North Staffordshire he is an avid Stoke City supporter and enjoys spending quality time with family.

Rebecca Docker
H&S Consultant

Rebecca is a Graduate Member of IOSH working towards Chartered Membership, with over 20 years' experience within the health and safety profession. Rebecca has worked in a wide range of industries including energy, distribution, logistics and construction. She is extremely experienced in ensuring safety compliance through policy writing and risk assessment development accompanied by safe systems of work. Rebecca is also accredited with IOSH to deliver their training courses and is a NEBOSH examiner. Outside of work, Rebecca’s children and Bulldog keep her busy but she always finds time to keep fit through netball and running. For relaxation, Rebecca enjoys holidays with her family and Italian food washed down with a gin and tonic.

Adele Partridge
H&S Consultant

Christine is a Chartered Member of the CIPD with a Level 7 Post Graduate Diploma in HR Management and has over 30 years HR experience which includes a number of years as Head of HR in a wide range of industries including manufacturing, utilities, automotive and logistics. She is used to handling complex ER cases and has significant experience of working with trade unions at a local and national level.

Andrew Giles
H&S Consultant

Andrew is an enthusiastic and dedicated H&S professional with 35 years' experience of implementation and management. He is also a Chartered Member of IOSH. Andy’s vocation has ranged from his early RAF and fire service career, to his present H&S consultancy role. He has worked within a variety of sectors, including construction, engineering, housing, social regeneration and commercial building projects to create safe workplaces. This work has encompassed advising on fire safety and carrying out fire risk assessments across a range of commercial premises. Andy offers pragmatic and common sense solutions to all his clients. Living in the Northeast, he is passionate about improving his education, including his present doctoral studies.

Jerry Henderson Newton
H&S Consultant

Jerry has been a health and safety professional since 1989 during which time he has developed and managed effective health and safety systems for a large number of differing organisations including construction, insurance, education, light engineering and asbestos removal. Amongst his successes he counts several major business re-engineering projects. He is an experienced management systems auditor and a former NEBOSH examiner who adopts a practical approach to finding solutions to H&S challenges. In his spare time Jerry is an avid glider pilot who flies at the Yorkshire Gliding Club.

Paul Simpson
H&S Consultant

Paul is a consultant and trainer who is able to draw upon his experience within a wide range of sectors in order to help organisations meet their health and safety and fire safety obligations. He works closely with all stakeholders to ensure not only sensible and practical approaches are established, but also to encourage continual improvement. Outside of work, Paul’s interests include motorcycling and scuba diving where he is an advanced Instructor with the British Sub Aqua Club.

Lloyd Roberts
H&S Consultant

Lloyd is a Chartered Member of IOSH and has been advising businesses on health and safety for over 20 years. He is also a registered consultant with the HSE, a Health and Safety Trainer, a Fire Risk Assessor and has a wealth of health and safety experience in construction, rail, health care, leisure, manufacturing, offices, retail and education. In his spare time, Lloyd enjoys wild swimming, cycling, yoga, being with his family and two dogs

Chris Driver
Training Consultant

Chris has spent the last 15 years working as an instructor/trainer for a variety of areas. The health and social care sector is now his forte where he heads courses such as; Fire Safety, First Aid, Mental Capacity Act, Moving and Handling, Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults, Dysphagia, Infection Control, Prevention and Management of Aggression, and Food Hygiene amongst others. Originally from Birmingham, he now lives in Hereford where he relaxes at the weekend in the stunning countryside.
